Each year we arrange a number of special weekends at the request
of many who have visited the castle and wish to return in a private
capacity. We make sure these are both elegant and fun. They provide
the perfect opportunity to enjoy the Tower's own indescribable
atmosphere. Every House Party depends on what time of the year
you visit and which weekend you may choose. Each has its own charm.
FOOD OF LOVE HOUSE
PARTY
Each year, at the end of February, we invite a celebrity chef to come and Host our Food of Love House Party. This has become a lovely annual event and the chefs we have had over the years since 2002 include: Anton Mosimann, Paul Rankin, Nick Nairn, Anton Edelmann, Angela Hartnett, Richard Corrigan and Henry Brosi. All have contributed hugely to the House Party and we look forward to announcing our chef for 2009 shortly. Each of the menus will be carefully selected from the source of wonderful ingredients we are blessed with round about, and there will be visits to the butcher, the fish market, learning about the oysters fields and food demonstrations. All accompanied with the importance of wine selection to match the courses led by Guy Butterwick, proprietor of claret-e. The background is course the warmth of the Castle's log fires, a wild sea maybe in the Bay, a Ceilidh certainly in the Opera House. Blissful walks, long lunches, heavenly dinners.
He will be joined by Guy Butterwick proprietor of the London wine house ‘claret-e’. Guy will be placing various wines with the menus and telling you a little about them and the reasons for his choice.Do join us.
HOSTS'
EASTER HOUSE PARTY
This party is biennial and the next one will be in 2009.
This is an opportunity for those who have Hosted a party at the Tower to return with their own family and friends and mix with others who have done the same.
MAY
OPEN HOUSE PARTY
Spring is here. Hosts of daffodils line the drive. The lawns have
been cut. Visit the daunting heights of Wifey's Geo to watch the
sea birds returning from their Winter's migration at sea. Wind
up the swing on the golf links. Shoot a few clays and see the
new Tree House in the Walled Garden. Come out of hibernation and
have fun.
GLORIOUS
AUGUST HOUSE PARTY
The nights of the Perseid Meteors. Shooting stars from the comet
Swift-Tuttle. Long summer days for fishing on the riverbank. Idling
in a boat looking for mackerel or helping Johnnie hauling in his
creels. Pimms on the lawn. The Castle of Mey Highland Games.
WILD
GOOSE HOUSE PARTY
Golf, shooting, walks on the beach, riding, laughing and plenty
of sloe gins. Lord Lambton lunches at the Bothie. Out for the
duck at dawn and the wild geese at evening twilight. Maybe a stalk
during the day for the really keen. A classical winters house
party and just as good for non-shooters.
HOGMANAY
HOUSE PARTY
A classical Hogmanay; first footing, a tall dark stranger, party
games and a ceilidh. Long dresses and kilts, big open fires, candlelight,
drams and port. Sloe gin on the moor. A walk to John O'Groats,
a wild beach barbecue to clear the head. For those who know Scotland
you need to know little more - but book early.
